Up 5.1%, Indonesia’s Fishery Export Value Reaches USD 5.07 Billion

Indonesia’s fishery product export performance showed a positive trend through October 2025, with data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reporting that the total value of fishery commodity exports reached USD 5.07 billion, marking a 5.1% increase compared to USD 4.82 billion in the same period last year. Machmud, Acting Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, stated that Indonesia should be proud of consistently maintaining its position as a net exporter of fishery commodities. Despite challenges faced by the shrimp export sector to the United States, overall export performance remained strong. Exports to the US rose by 2.6% to USD 1.6 billion, exports to ASEAN countries jumped 22.7% to USD 811.64 million, while shipments to Japan and the European Union also saw increases to USD 506.28 million and USD 379.54 million, respectively. Shrimp continued to be the largest contributor, with export value rising 8.6% year-on-year to USD 1.4 billion.

In addition to export growth, investment in Indonesia’s marine and fisheries sector also showed positive results. By the third quarter of 2025, total investment in the sector had reached IDR 7.8 trillion, spread across processing, aquaculture, marketing, fishing, and fisheries services. The Ministry has strengthened the capacity of MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) through programs offering technical guidance on legality, financing, and marketing, and through financial facilitation efforts. As a result, IDR 4.7 trillion in People’s Business Credit (KUR) was disbursed to support over 91,000 business borrowers across various sub-sectors, helping boost production and competitiveness.
