The Ministry of Industry is strengthening partnerships between small and medium-sized metal industries (IKM) and slaughterhouses (RPH) to open new market avenues while fostering a competitive halal industry ecosystem. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that strengthening a self-reliant and competitive national industrial structure requires integration and solid partnerships throughout the value chain. "The Ministry of Industry continues to pursue expanded strategic partnerships for the IKM sector, enabling them to enter the supply chains of potential users across various sectors—including the provision of facilities and infrastructure supporting the halal food industry," the Minister stated in Jakarta on Monday.
One concrete step involves developing partnerships between metal IKMs and slaughterhouses, specifically regarding the supply of high-quality, standards-compliant slaughtering tools and post-slaughter processing equipment. The Minister of Industry considers product quality improvement a crucial factor in making national small and medium-sized industries (IKM) more competitive and capable of meeting domestic market demands. "By raising quality standards and ensuring quality compliance, products made by local small and medium-sized industries must become the preferred choice and dominate the domestic market," he emphasized.
The government, the Minister added, acts as a liaison between small and medium-sized industry players and large-scale industries or other economic sectors that could serve as potential partners. "In this regard, we are providing guidance to metal-based small and medium-sized industries to enable them to partner with slaughterhouses. Slaughterhouses have a continuous need for products, creating opportunities to establish mutually beneficial collaborations," he stated.
