Trade Minister Budi Santoso is urging automotive sector businesses to continue boosting exports and to leverage the various trade agreements Indonesia holds with partner countries. He views these trade agreements as vital assets for expanding market access and unlocking new opportunities for Indonesian products on the global stage. The Minister conveyed this message while meeting with representatives from PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) at the Ministry of Trade offices in Jakarta on Tuesday (August 11, 2026).
The meeting served as a forum for dialogue between the government and industry players to discuss automotive export trends and market expansion opportunities, as well as to gather feedback regarding the challenges businesses face in increasing exports. "We continue to promote the presence of Indonesian products in the global market through various trade partnerships established with partner countries. This expanded market access is expected to create greater opportunities to boost exports and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian products globally," said Minister Budi Santoso following the meeting.
The Minister added that Indonesia's trade agreements with partner countries also play a role in strengthening access to key export destinations, such as the Gulf region. The government is actively working to finalize a trade agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, with completion targeted for this year. "We are pushing for the finalization of the trade agreement with the GCC. We hope the process can be concluded by November at the latest, thereby further strengthening market access for Indonesian products in the Gulf region," the Minister stated. Minister Budi Santoso was accompanied at the meeting by Fajarini Puntodewi, the Ministry of Trade’s Director General of National Export Development.
