Maluku’s Marine Products Reach Global Stage with Inaugural Seafood Export to Thailand

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), through its localized quality control and quarantine agencies, has successfully facilitated the inaugural export of premium seafood products from Maluku directly to Thailand. The milestone shipment, consisting of approximately 11 tons of frozen tuna loin valued at over 1 billion IDR, was officially dispatched by PT Jayawi Ambon Internasional from Yos Sudarso Port in Ambon. This successful trade expansion marks a critical step forward in diversifying Maluku's international market footprint and reinforces the region's standing as a highly competitive producer of premium marine commodities within Southeast Asia.

To secure long-term access to the strict Thai market, the administration paired the export logistics with comprehensive upstream-to-downstream Quality Assurance (QA) certification frameworks. By ensuring local fisherman and processing facilities adhere strictly to modern international bio-sanitary and freshness benchmarks, the government aims to establish a reliable trade corridor that guarantees sustainable, premium pricing for local coastal smallholders. Seafood industry analysts, international maritime logistics networks, and regional aquaculture investors should monitor this emerging corridor closely, as Maluku’s successful entry into Thailand anchors a broader surge in the province's year-on-year non-oil export balance.
