Indonesia to Channel Coal and Palm Oil Exports Through State-Owned Enterprise Starting June 2026

Indonesia will begin routing exports of key commodities, including coal and crude palm oil, through a designated state-owned enterprise starting in June 2026. The policy, introduced under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, aims to strengthen export governance, improve transparency, and optimize national revenue from strategic natural resources. The government stated that the centralized system will help reduce under-invoicing and improve monitoring of export transactions.

The new export framework is also expected to reinforce Indonesia’s position in global commodity markets by increasing state oversight and ensuring better coordination in trade management. Officials believe the initiative will support long-term economic resilience, improve fiscal stability, and strengthen Indonesia’s bargaining power as one of the world’s leading exporters of coal and palm oil.
