Indonesia is strengthening its position in the global seafood market as international demand for tilapia continues to increase, particularly from the United States and Europe. The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries highlighted tilapia as one of the country’s leading export commodities due to its competitive pricing, high nutritional value, and growing popularity among global consumers. The government is also expanding production capacity through aquaculture development programs in Karawang and the revitalization of coastal fish farming areas.
Authorities emphasized that Indonesian tilapia products have maintained strong international quality standards through certifications such as HACCP, ASC, and ISO 22000, helping improve market acceptance and sustainability practices. Industry players believe the sector has strong long-term potential as global consumers increasingly seek affordable and environmentally responsible seafood products. The initiative is expected to support export growth, strengthen Indonesia’s fisheries industry, and create wider opportunities in international markets.
