Protecting this sector is considered vital, as it remains a major contributor to national excise revenue and provides livelihoods for millions of workers and farmers.

Industry leaders are advocating for a more balanced regulatory approach that harmonizes public health objectives with economic sustainability. Open dialogue between the government and the private sector is essential to mitigate the risks of increased illegal cigarette trade resulting from overly stringent policies. Strategic adjustments in the regulation are necessary to maintain the competitiveness of legal tobacco products while supporting the national recovery agenda. Moving forward, the industry remains committed to complying with fair standards that foster a stable and predictable business environment for all stakeholders.
