Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said that the city government has drawn up a plan to seek funding for the implementation of the international electric car race Formula E from the private sector.
“We have designed a program for the international organizers. We will later collaborate with third parties or the private sector,” Riza said.
He ensured that the budget disbursed by the provincial government thus far will not vanish. Jakarta has spent a budget of nearly Rp1 trillion for the implementation of the electric racing series, according to the audit report of the Jakarta Audit Agency (BPK Jakarta).
The audit report of the 2019 Jakarta financial statements signed by the Jakarta BPK Head Pemut Aryo Wibowo on June 19, 2020, found that the single-seater electric car motor racing has been a burden to the Regional Budget (APBD) because all spendings were sourced from it.
“Based on the research on financial transactions related to the implementation of Formula E, it is known that payments made to Formula E Organizer (FEO) are worth 53 million pound sterling or equal to Rp983.31 billion,” wrote the BPK report which was also signed by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
In the same report, BPK Jakarta noted that the Jakarta Provincial Government should have sought alternative funds from third parties to finance the racing event.
