The Fish Quarantine and Quality Control Agency (BKIPM) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has reported that 54 fishery SMEs in the Bangka Belitung Islands have successfully met global market requirements. These enterprises have obtained the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification, which is a fundamental prerequisite for entering international trade arenas. This achievement demonstrates the commitment of local businesses to maintaining high standards of food safety and product quality throughout the supply chain. By aligning with these rigorous standards, these SMEs are now well-positioned to expand their market reach and compete effectively on a global scale.
Furthermore, the government continues to provide intensive technical assistance and quality assurance training to empower more local entrepreneurs in the maritime sector. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost the region's export volume and increase the economic value of its superior fishery commodities. The certification not only enhances consumer trust in foreign markets but also serves as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth within the province's coastal communities. Moving forward, the synergy between regulatory bodies and business owners will remain crucial in maintaining these certifications and ensuring the long-term viability of Indonesia’s fishery exports.
