Indonesia has successfully solidified its position as the world's fourth-largest producer of processed cocoa, significantly enhancing its role in the global supply chain. The national cocoa grinding industry demonstrated remarkable resilience by recording a total volume of 422,176 tons in 2025 following previous global supply disruptions. This robust performance contributed approximately USD 3.42 billion to the country’s foreign exchange, supplying over 8 percent of global demand for products like cocoa butter and powder. The Ministry of Industry attributes this success to the increasing availability of domestic raw materials and strategic synergy with the Indonesian Cocoa Association (ASKINDO).
Furthermore, the government is implementing a comprehensive integration program to ensure long-term sustainability from upstream to downstream sectors. This initiative includes garden revitalization, research enhancement, and an allocated budget for the modernization of processing machinery to boost production efficiency. International trade dynamics have also favored national exporters, with zero-percent tariffs from the United States and postponed European Union deforestation regulations providing significant room for expansion. Industry leaders believe that these favorable conditions will allow Indonesia to penetrate non-traditional markets and further strengthen its competitive edge in the global agro-industry. Moving forward, the focus remains on enhancing human resource capacity and technological integration to sustain this positive growth trajectory.
