Indramayu Anchors West Java’s Fishery Sector with Significant Production Growth

Indramayu Regency has solidified its position as a vital cornerstone of West Java’s maritime economy by contributing 33.99 percent to the province's total fishery output in 2025. According to the local Fishery and Marine Department, the region produced a substantial 528,873 tons of fish through both capture and aquaculture sectors. Specifically, Indramayu accounted for an impressive 63.01 percent of the province’s total capture fisheries, underscoring its dominance in the marine trade. These figures reflect the regency's strategic importance in maintaining the regional supply chain and supporting national food security initiatives.

The sustained productivity is largely attributed to the effective synergy between local government agencies, private enterprises, and regional stakeholders. Local authorities emphasized that this collaborative framework is essential for maintaining production stability and fostering innovation within the aquaculture sector. Moving forward, the government aims to further expand production capacity to enhance the economic welfare of coastal communities and meet rising domestic demand. By prioritizing sustainable management and professional partnerships, Indramayu is well-positioned to remain a leading force in Indonesia’s fisheries industry.
