The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, has ensured that the national fish supply is in a secure condition to meet public needs during the Ramadhan and Eid 2026 period. Based on prognostic data, total national fish production in the early part of this year is projected to reach 3.57 million tons, sourced from both aquaculture and capture fisheries sectors. The government has conducted strict monitoring in eight major cities that serve as primary consumption centers to ensure distribution runs smoothly without obstacles. With availability levels exceeding community needs across various regions, the government is optimistic that food sovereignty from the marine sector will remain well-maintained.
For business actors and consumers, this supply guarantee is also accompanied by the government's commitment to maintaining price stability to ensure affordability at the market level. Supply security strategies are implemented by optimizing cold storage stocks and utilizing harvest yields from the aquaculture sector, which is currently at its peak season. Additionally, inter-regional coordination continues to be strengthened to balance stocks between producing regions and high-demand areas such as Jakarta and Surabaya. Through these measured mitigation steps, it is hoped that all segments of the community can perform their religious duties during the holy month peacefully without worrying about fishery commodity shortages.
