Indonesia marked a positive milestone in its grassroots export development as Mojokerto-based CV Mitra Tata Usaha completed its first molasses shipment to Australia. Supported by the Trade Ministry’s Export Center Surabaya, this achievement reflects the growing capability of rural producers to enter global value chains. Director General of National Export Development Fajarini Puntodewi highlighted that the successful export showcases the competitiveness of Indonesian products and is expected to encourage more export-oriented villages to enhance product quality for international markets. From January to September 2025, Indonesia recorded global molasses exports worth USD3.48 million, with key destinations including Guinea, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, and Malaysia.
The Export Center Surabaya—along with centers in Balikpapan, Batam, and Makassar—continues to assist businesses through regulatory guidance, market insights, business matching, and product quality improvement programs. These initiatives play an essential role in equipping micro, small, and medium enterprises to compete internationally. Puntodewi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening MSME participation in global trade through training, certification support, and international promotion efforts. The government expects this first shipment to Australia to catalyze broader and more diversified exports, reinforcing Indonesia’s position as a reliable supplier in the global market.
