The Kementerian Perdagangan (Ministry of Trade) announced that a business from Mojokerto, East Java, successfully carried out the first export of sugar-cane molasses to Australia, with a value of USD 10,000 (about IDR 166.5 million).
The ministry’s Director General for National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, described this milestone as a positive signal for villages with export potential, encouraging more rural producers to develop globally competitive products. She added that the export was facilitated by the Export Center Surabaya, which helps producers access international markets through services such as export regulation guidance, market consultation, business matching, and product-quality assistance. This first shipment to Australia is part of broader efforts to diversify Indonesian exports. From January to September 2025, Indonesia’s global molasses exports reached USD 3.48 million, with main destinations including Guinea, Somalia, Sierra Leone, the Ivory Coast, and Malaysia.
