The Lembaga Pembiayaan Ekspor Indonesia (LPEI), also known as Indonesia Eximbank, reports that Indonesia’s candlenut exports surged 350% year-on-year to a value of USD 9.58 million. On the volume side, the increase was even larger: exports jumped 413% to about 9,950 metric tons. The main export destinations were Bangladesh and Malaysia, which together absorbed 64% of the supply.
To capitalize on this growing demand, LPEI — through its social and environmental responsibility programme (TJSL) — is actively supporting producers in Lombok Tengah (Central Lombok), in Nusa Tenggara Barat. Under this initiative, LPEI supports 40 villages and empowers around 350 farmers, 60% of whom are women. The support includes supplying an automatic vacuum packager to preserve product quality, cooling/drying machines to accelerate processing, and 2,000 superior candlenut seedlings to rejuvenate land and boost productivity — all aimed at increasing export competitiveness and promoting sustainable production.
