Trade Minister Budi Santoso officially launched the first export of wafers and biscuits to Japan on 7 December 2025. The export comes from PT Konimex, and the ceremony was held at their wafer and biscuit factory in Desa Cemani, Grogol sub-district, Sukoharjo, Central Java. The minister said this milestone is a great step, with hopes that it will open doors for Indonesian snacks to enter the European market in the future.
This move is part of a broader push by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia to promote finished food products for export, especially from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The success of this shipment to Japan — a market known for strict food-safety standards — is seen as a recognition that Indonesian snack products can meet international requirements.
