The Indonesian paint and coatings industry is gearing up to seize new export avenues following the launch of the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU‑CEPA), which opens up access to EU markets. Industry players view the deal as a fresh chapter for tapping into Europe’s rising demand for environmentally friendly coatings. They believe that with tariff reductions and regulatory improvements under IEU-CEPA, Indonesian producers can compete more effectively in European markets.
In practical terms, this means manufacturers must enhance product quality, ensure compliance with EU environmental and safety standards, and adapt to evolving customer preferences toward green solutions. Market analysts argue that Indonesia’s exports to Europe could increase significantly over the next five years once the agreement is fully implemented. The paint sector, in particular, is positioning itself to ride this wave by upgrading technologies, strengthening supply chains, and promoting certified eco-friendly coatings to meet the more stringent European requirements.
