Indonesia’s palm oil export volume climbed to 22.7 million tons by August 2025, marking a 15.3% increase from the same period in 2024 (19.68 million tons). The rise was driven by stronger shipments of processed palm oil products, refined palm oil, palm kernel oil (PKO), crude palm oil (CPO), and oleochemicals. In value terms, exports hit USD 24.78 billion, or about IDR 406 trillion, up from USD 17.34 billion a year earlier, thanks in part to a higher average CPO price (USD 1,200 per ton vs. USD 1,000 previously).
The performance underscores the palm oil sector’s role as a key non-oil and gas export driver and contributor to foreign exchange earnings and employment. According to the Gabungan Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (GAPKI), the sector’s robust export performance helped maintain a positive trade balance and expanded Indonesia’s supply reach to more than 100 countries, with notable export increases to Malaysia, China, Africa, the EU, Russia, and the United States.
