The halal industry, one of the fastest-growing global sectors, continues to expand amid rising demand from Muslim consumers. To align halal certification standards and enhance mutual trust, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore held an international seminar titled “Cross-Border Halal Regulations Shaping a Future Perspective” in Johor, Malaysia. The event, attended by over 300 participants, sought to harmonize halal regulations and explore ASEAN’s potential as a global halal hub.
Representatives from Indonesia’s LPPOM, Malaysia’s JAKIM, and Singapore’s SuChi Success Initiatives shared insights on certification practices and inter-country cooperation. Indonesia emphasized the need to strengthen domestic halal certification to reduce dependence on imported products, while Malaysia highlighted strict meat handling protocols, and Singapore encouraged collaboration over competition. The seminar underscored that unified halal standards across ASEAN would not only enhance consumer confidence but also boost regional competitiveness.
