Banua Sidat Expands Eel Fish Export Cooperation, Facilitated by ITPC Shanghai with a Potential Transaction of IDR 239 Billion per Year

The company CV Banua Sidat from Central Sulawesi is expanding its export reach of wild-caught eel fish (specifically the Anguilla marmorata species) by engaging in business matching with Chinese buyers through the facilitation of the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Shanghai. The initiative follows the company’s participation in the Trade Expo Indonesia 2025, where interest from China was identified. Although visa issues prevented the buyer from attending in person during the Trade Expo, the ITPC Shanghai arranged a follow-up online meeting via Zoom, which successfully confirmed Chinese demand for approximately 2,000 kg per day (≈60,000 kg monthly). At an approximate export price of USD 20–23 per kilogram, the projected annual transaction is around IDR 239 billion (USD 1.2 million monthly).

The opportunity underscores the urgency for rapid strengthening of the production chain in Central Sulawesi so that supply can meet the newly signalled demand. CV Banua Sidat’s owner emphasises that sustained production and proper export registration through China’s General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) are both crucial for maintaining this deal. For regional aquaculture and fisheries sectors this development represents a strategic moment: leveraging global demand to enhance economic value locally while building export capacity and compliance mechanisms.
