Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, engaged with U.S. Under Secretary of State Jacob Helberg at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on October 26, 2025, to discuss strategic economic collaboration. The discussions focused on high-potential sectors including nickel and critical mineral refining, advanced semiconductors, artificial intelligence, tech talent development, data centers, renewable energy, and small modular nuclear reactors. Airlangga emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to opening these investment opportunities to U.S. partners to strengthen trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth.
In addition to economic cooperation, Indonesia is exploring hosting the Southeast Asia Forum on Export Control (SEAFEC) 2026 to enhance regional export management systems. Airlangga highlighted the importance of building resilient supply chains, promoting inclusive economic growth, and sustaining mutually beneficial bilateral relations with the United States. The ASEAN Summit also featured regional discussions, bilateral meetings with major partner countries, and side events attracting investors and development partners.
