Indonesia continues to strengthen strategic economic cooperation with the United States, focusing on high-value-added critical mineral downstream processing. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, met with US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and Environment Jacob Helberg during the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur to discuss bilateral economic collaboration, investment opportunities, trade management, and export control measures.
Airlangga highlighted Indonesia’s openness to US investment in sectors such as nickel and other critical mineral refining, high-tech development including semiconductors, AI, tech talent programs, data centers, and renewable energy. He emphasized that Indonesia-US relations are at a positive stage, offering opportunities to enhance economic resilience, advance energy transition, and promote inclusive and sustainable technological development, supporting Indonesia’s long-term Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
