South Sumatra’s Plantation Commodities Boost Export Value to IDR14.83 Trillion

South Sumatra’s export performance in Q3 2025 showed positive growth, with total export value reaching IDR14.86 trillion by September. The plantation sector remained the main contributor, led by key commodities such as rubber, coconut, processed rubberwood, palm kernel expeller (PKE), and rubber sheets, which together generated IDR14.83 trillion, according to Achmad Mirza, an International Trade Practitioner from the South Sumatra Trade Office (October 27, 2025). Exports from the fish quarantine sector also showed gains, dominated by betutu fish, botia fish, black tiger shrimp, giant tiger prawns, and frog meat, contributing IDR26.7 billion. Meanwhile, animal quarantine exports—mainly bird’s nest and honey—reached IDR707 million. The total number of certified export-worthy commodities issued by the quarantine agency stood at 5,991 certificates. Mirza projected that the province’s export performance would remain strong into next year.

The number of export documents (Certificates of Country of Origin/CCO) and overall export volumes also increased, reflecting enhanced product quality control, improved packaging, and better regulatory guidance. Head of South Sumatra Quarantine, Sri Endah Ekandari, highlighted that the region holds significant export potential, with cinnamon identified as a promising new commodity for shipment next year. Following participation in a trade exhibition in Jakarta, a local exporter plans to initiate the province’s first-ever cinnamon export. Continuous outreach and education on export regulations are being conducted to ensure that South Sumatra’s products meet international safety and traceability standards.
