The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has confirmed that the country is strengthening its position in the global textile and textile products (TPT) sector. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that Indonesia ranks among the top five most efficient textile producers worldwide, with yarn spinning costs at only USD 2.71 per kilogram, lower than in China, India, and Turkey. Weaving costs reach USD 8.84 per meter, while fabric finishing costs are USD 1.16 per meter, underscoring Indonesia’s global competitiveness.
Agus highlighted that this efficiency demonstrates the resilience and adaptability of the national TPT industry, which grew 5.39% in the first year of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, contributing 0.98% to Indonesia’s GDP. Strong export performance, particularly to the United States, showed knitted clothing and accessories (HS 61) with a trade surplus of USD 1.86 billion, surpassing footwear (HS 64) at USD 1.85 billion. Agus emphasized that these achievements reflect the TPT sector’s sustainable and competitive global position.
