President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, witnessed the signing and exchange of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements between the two countries at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The event, part of President Lula’s state visit to Indonesia, marked a new chapter in bilateral relations—advancing the two nations toward a more comprehensive and mutually beneficial strategic partnership. President Prabowo expressed optimism about the rapid progress achieved within two months since their previous meeting in July, noting that both nations are moving swiftly toward stronger cooperation.
The signed MoUs cover key government sectors, including energy and mining, science and technology, and sanitary and phytosanitary cooperation, as well as statistics. In addition to government-level collaboration, the visit also fostered stronger business ties, with several MoUs signed between Indonesian and Brazilian enterprises. These include partnerships between PT Danantara Investment Management and JBS N.V. on potential transaction plans, PT PLN (Persero) and J&F S.A. on hydropower development for Indonesia’s energy transition, PT Pertamina (Persero) and Fluxus Holding S.A. on energy cooperation, and between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX) on trade promotion. The signing ceremony took place in a warm and cooperative atmosphere, reflecting both nations’ shared commitment to deepen strategic ties and promote sustainable global development.
