The Asosiasi Eksportir Kopi Indonesia (AEKI) projects that Indonesia’s coffee export volume will increase by around 10% by the end of 2025. With a stable harvest and strong global demand particularly after coffee price surges mid-year, the association estimates that export volume could reach between 12.5 and 12.8 million sacks. AEKI’s optimism is grounded in favorable conditions including robust specialty coffee demand from markets like the United States and the United Kingdom.
This target underscores the increasingly strategic role Indonesia plays in the global coffee trade. Indonesia’s blend of robusta and arabica beans, including single-origin varieties prized in third-wave coffee markets, gives it a competitive edge. The emphasis on volume growth signals a push by Indonesian exporters and producers to capitalize on premium markets while still serving bulk-segment needs. If realized, the expansion could help raise the country’s share in international trade, reinforce supply chains, and boost incomes across the coffee value chain.
