In the first eight months of 2025, Indonesia recorded a substantial increase in agricultural exports, rising by 38.5% to reach USD 4.57 billion, according to Budi Santoso, the Trade Minister. This growth contrasts with exports of USD 3.30 billion during the same period in 2024. The minister highlighted that such a jump not only signifies strong performance in global markets but also signals progress toward food self-sufficiency for the country.
Beyond the agricultural sector, Indonesia’s overall exports climbed approximately 7.7% in the January–August window, while the trade surplus expanded to USD 29 billion—up 53.3% from USD 19 billion in the same period last year. The government’s strategy to sustain these trends includes leveraging its 24 active trade agreements (covering PTAs, FTAs and CEPAs) with 30 partner nations, enabling broader access and competitive positioning in international trade.
