A delegation from the Sirte Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (SCCIA), led by President Fathi Al‑Daaiki and accompanied by several Libyan businesspeople, took part in an international economic forum held in Central Java, Indonesia. According to Al-Daaiki, the move was prompted by an official invitation and aimed at bolstering international economic cooperation, especially with Asian and global economic institutions. He emphasized that the delegation’s goals included examining export prospects in light of evolving customs policies and exploring possibilities for foreign investment.
Al-Daaiki also explained that SCCI-A’s involvement ties directly into efforts to restore activity at the Sirte Commercial Port and launch the city’s Free Zone project, which is envisioned as a strategic bridge between African and Asian trade flows. He noted Sirte’s advantageous Mediterranean-coast location and emerging logistical infrastructure as key assets for developing light industry, logistics services, and free-market enterprises. The delegation sees significant opportunity for foreign investment and broader economic growth rooted in this positioning.
