Indonesia and UAE Strengthen Energy and Investment Cooperation

The Indonesian government and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have recently elevated their partnership in the energy and investment sectors. High-level meetings between Indonesian officials and their UAE counterparts affirmed a shared commitment to advance Indonesia’s clean energy transition and enhance industrial digitalisation. The collaboration includes major renewable-energy projects such as large-scale solar power plants, geothermal, hydropower, and wind developments, supported by UAE investment and technology transfer. Indonesia’s rich natural resources and the UAE’s strong financial and technological capability make this partnership strategically aligned for both countries.

Beyond energy production, the cooperation covers infrastructure investment, regulatory and policy exchange, and private-sector ties. The UAE is exploring investments in Indonesia’s special economic zones, data centres, housing, and ports, while Indonesia emphasises the need for transparency, ease of doing business, and future protection for investors. For Indonesia, this agreement holds deeper implications: building momentum toward its goals of industrialisation, energy self-sufficiency, and a decarbonised economy. For the UAE, it opens access to Southeast Asia’s growing market and aligns with its global diversification and clean-energy agenda.
