Indonesia's Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) has officially signed a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) with Japan's Customs and Tariff Bureau (JCTB). This agreement acknowledges mutual recognition of AEO certifications, granting certified companies expedited customs procedures and reduced physical inspections in both countries. The MRA aims to enhance bilateral trade efficiency and strengthen international trade security.
The partnership follows a series of joint actions, including a 2024 action plan and validation visits in both nations. With Japan joining, DJBC now holds six MRAs, expanding Indonesia's global customs network. This collaboration is expected to lower trade costs and improve Indonesia's competitiveness in the global market.
