Indonesia’s export performance has seen an encouraging 7% growth year-on-year, which Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan attributes to the government’s trade and economic policies being well aligned and effectively implemented. Zulhas emphasized that the trade sector policies are “on track,” noting that the export growth and rising trade surplus (from about USD 19 billion last year to USD 29 billion this year) signal that Indonesia’s external trade is strengthening.
Despite global headwinds like the trade tensions between the United States and China, the government claims Indonesia has maintained positive export growth to those markets, with no major disruptions observed. Looking ahead, the Ministry of Trade plans to sustain momentum by boosting the competitiveness of domestic products, expanding promotional efforts, and supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to further diversify and deepen export growth.
