Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that all vehicles operating in Indonesia, including mining trucks, must comply with the Euro 4 emission standard. Speaking at the Investor Daily Roundtable in Jakarta, he stated that while on-road vehicles largely meet this requirement, many off-road mining vehicles, particularly haul trucks, still operate under Euro 2 or Euro 3 standards. He warned this poses environmental risks and undermines opportunities for local manufacturers. The Ministry of Industry is now coordinating with other agencies to extend emission compliance enforcement to off-road vehicles as part of Indonesia’s broader commitment to cleaner industrial operations.
In the same forum, Minister Agus also introduced a new regulation on domestic content requirements, enacted under Ministerial Regulation No. 35/2025, effective since September 11, 2025. The regulation mandates that public procurement prioritize local products with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) above 40%, banning the import of similar goods. To support compliance, the government is expanding the national e-Catalogue and simplifying the TKDN certification process. This initiative aims to strengthen local industrial capacity, reduce import dependence, and ensure that every IDR spent through public budgets benefits national industry.
