The Ministry of Industry is drafting a new regulation requiring all industrial areas and factories in Indonesia to report quarterly Radiation Portal Monitoring (RPM) survey results via the National Industrial Information System (SIINas). This initiative follows the Cesium-137 (Cs-137) exposure incident in the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate, Serang, Banten.
Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that businesses will be encouraged to either acquire radiation detection tools or collaborate with third-party testing services. The regulation, intended to safeguard public health and industrial safety, will be issued and implemented promptly. Authorities assure that radiation has not disrupted the supply chain, and public safety remains a top priority amid ongoing decontamination efforts, targeted for completion by December 2025.
