Astra Internasional has achieved a significant milestone in its corporate social responsibility efforts by exporting 20 tons of Arabica coffee (AFB – Arabika Flores Bajawa) to Thailand, the result of a cultivation and support program targeting 204 farmers in Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The program, which began in 2024, spans six villages in the Bajawa subdistrict, including Mukuvoka. Through integrated support—training, equipment provision, strengthening farmer institutions, and facilitating access to financing—Astra aims to uplift local livelihoods and build a sustainable rural economy.
Local government officials and Astra’s management emphasize that such collaboration between the public and private sectors is vital to improving both productivity and product quality. The Deputy Regent of Ngada, Bernadinus Dhey Ngebu, pointed out that while the coffee from Ngada already has a distinguished reputation, consistency and sustainable practices remain challenges. He highlighted that aligning farmer practices with market standards and ensuring fair pricing are crucial components of the partnership.
