The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, conveyed three breakthrough programs for 2021-2024 in the first working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR at the DPR Jakarta Building, Wednesday (27/1/2021). Through these three breakthrough programs, KKP is targeting an increase in state revenue from the marine and fisheries sector to improving people's welfare.
One of these priorities is an increase in Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) from the capture fisheries sub-sector, which could be more than Rp. 595 billion. "I ask for support so that PNBP from capture fisheries is no longer Rp. 595 billion, but could be higher for the benefit of this nation," said Trenggono in a written statement on Wednesday (27/1/2021). Two other priorities include the development of aquaculture supported by the Marine and Fisheries Research Agency for the sustainability of marine and inland fisheries resources, as well as the development of freshwater, brackish and marine aquaculture villages, such as Lobster, Catfish, Tilapia, Kakap, and Kampung. Seaweed. Trenggono explained, the reason for choosing to develop aquaculture is to protect the marine and terrestrial ecosystems themselves. Because aquaculture is developed based on the results of research and the application of technological innovations. In addition, the world trend has also chosen a similar path, such as Japan, Norway, and China. "I am reviewing everything. Cultivation production in the next 10-15 years will increase sharply, while capture fisheries production will decline sharply. By increasing aquaculture activities, the ecosystem and fish population in the sea will be preserved so that the next generation will still be fulfilled their nutrients. from fishery products ", said Trenggono.
From the development of aquaculture, Trenggono hopes that Indonesia will have superior commodities in the future, such as lobsters. Meanwhile, the selection of Aquaculture Fisheries Village aims to encourage economic growth in the community, especially during a pandemic. The cultivation villages are targeted to become a new economic source, which is not only filled with production activities but also other economic activities.
