The Indonesian Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has extended high praise to Toyota Indonesia after the company achieved the milestone of exporting 3 million vehicles. According to Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, this accomplishment solidifies Toyota’s role as a driving force in the national automotive sector, contributing not only to export earnings but also to employment. The minister underscored Toyota’s alignment with government priorities—particularly in advancing low-emission vehicles and reducing carbon emissions—as crucial to the country’s ambitions in the global green mobility space. With operations spanning over 100 countries, Toyota Indonesia’s success is seen as a beacon for other manufacturers to step up innovation and competitive strength.
From Toyota’s perspective, President Koji Sato expressed gratitude toward the Indonesian government, consumers, and local partners, celebrating the achievement as evidence of the nation’s manufacturing capabilities. Toyota intends to leverage this momentum by reinforcing Indonesia as a regional hub for research and development, especially targeting the Global South. With investments totaling around IDR 100 trillion, the company also supports a network of over 240 Tier-1 and 520 Tier-2/3 local suppliers and employs more than 360,000 people across the supply chain. The local content share in Toyota vehicles has now exceeded 80%. This synergy with domestic industries not only reduces import reliance, but also strengthens the broader national economy and enhances the resilience of Indonesia’s industrial ecosystem.
