Between January and June 2025, Indonesia exported about 206,700 tonnes of coffee, according to the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The shipments went to the United States, Japan, as well as countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. A notable example is a 15-ton export of Arabica coffee from 568 farmers in East Java’s Mount Argopuro region bound for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Over 90 percent of Indonesia’s coffee plantations are operated by smallholder farmers, highlighting the sector’s grassroots base. To enhance the value chain, the government has introduced a plantation cluster holding program that connects micro, small, medium, and large enterprises into an integrated supply chain. In 2024, Indonesia’s total coffee exports reached 1.63 billion USD, marking a substantial 76.3% increase compared with the previous year.
