The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) has taken the lead as Indonesia’s focal point for public governance in the country’s accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This commitment was marked by the submission of Indonesia’s Initial Memorandum in June 2025. As the coordinating body, PANRB oversees reforms across key areas including public sector efficiency, civil service integrity, digital governance, open government, and regulatory coherence. Minister Rini Widyantini emphasized that the reform journey is collaborative, involving other institutions and civil society to ensure a government-led yet society-driven approach to embedding human-centered governance.
Acknowledging the complexity of OECD standards and the challenges in coordination and reporting, Minister Rini outlined four strategic steps: aligning accession priorities with national development planning, maintaining PANRB’s role as the central coordinator, managing cross-ministry evidence collection and policy preparation, and strengthening integrated monitoring mechanisms. These efforts aim not only to meet OECD benchmarks but also to position Indonesia for long-term benefits such as enhanced investment credibility, better market access, and adoption of global best practices. Minister Rini reaffirmed Indonesia’s long-term commitment to the accession process, viewing it as a strategic investment in national governance transformation.
