The Indonesian government continues to prioritize food self-sufficiency, particularly in rice production, as part of its national development agenda. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), national rice production from January to November 2025 reached 33.19 million tons, marking a 12.62% increase compared to 29.47 million tons in the same period last year.
To achieve this goal, strong collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and local farmers is essential. One successful example is the “10 Ton Community” in Subang, where farmers, with proper training and agricultural technology, managed to produce up to 10 tons of rice per hectare — more than twice the national average yield. The government is also promoting the expansion of rice and corn cultivation areas as key components of its 2025 food security program. These initiatives demonstrate Indonesia’s steady progress toward achieving food sovereignty, which is expected to strengthen both economic stability and national resilience.
