Maluku’s Export Commodities Through External Ports Show Significant Growth

Maluku’s export performance strengthened in 2025, with notable increases in key commodities shipped through ports outside the province. Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Maluku showed that fish and shrimp exports rose by 64.32%, while seaweed exports grew by 34.39% compared to the same period in 2024. Jewelry and gemstone products continued to dominate, contributing 51.36% of Maluku’s total export value, followed by lac, gum, and resin at 1.68%.

Despite the overall improvement in commodity performance, exports through several loading ports experienced declines between January and August 2025. Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado recorded the sharpest drop at 100%, followed by Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar (-84.80%), Tanjung Perak Port (-5.48%), and Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar (-2.98%), with values decreasing from USD 733.31 thousand to USD 711.47 thousand. However, Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang remained the largest contributor, accounting for 67.41% of Maluku’s total exports through external ports, followed by Tanjung Perak Port with 27.47%.
