The West Kalimantan branch of the Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency (BKHIT) has officially launched a kratom export program, achieving a total shipment volume of 343 tons worth approximately IDR 15 billion (about USD 1 million). The export was carried out at Dwikora Port in Pontianak on September 30, 2025, as part of the “Export Acceleration” initiative. According to BKHIT, its role as a trade facilitator and its capacity to issue globally recognized export certifications help ensure product quality and build trust in international markets.
The move signals the government’s intention to elevate kratom—a long-debated commodity—into formal trade streams under regulatory oversight. By integrating kratom into officially sanctioned export channels, authorities aim to open international demand, increase export revenues, and bring the commodity under quality control and supervision.
