Indonesia recorded a 35.23% year-on-year growth in palm oil exports, reaching USD 16.66 billion between January and August 2025, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Both higher global demand and stronger commodity prices boosted the performance of the country’s top agricultural export. The average palm oil export price stood at USD 1,041.32 per ton, up 19.91% from last year, while export volumes rose 13.56% to 16.20 million tons.
Palm oil shipments also supported Indonesia’s broader trade performance, helping sustain the nation’s surplus streak for 64 consecutive months since May 2020. India remained one of the largest buyers, accounting for USD 2.73 billion in purchases during the first eight months of 2025, while the European Union importedUSD 1.27 billion worth of Indonesian palm oil products. The United States also absorbed significant volumes, with 2.6 million tons exported in August alone.
