President Prabowo Emphasizes Government’s Commitment to Strengthen the People’s Economy through Strategic Programs

In his address at the closing of the PKS 2025 National Congress, President Prabowo Subianto reiterated that the government is firmly dedicated to reinforcing Indonesia’s grassroots economy via several strategic initiatives. He announced the establishment of Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperatives) in some 80,000 villages and urban wards, with automatic membership for residents, aiming to streamline commodity distribution, absorb local production, and reduce the cost of basic goods. In the housing sector, the government plans to expand financing and allocate unused state land to build up to 350,000 homes, as tangible signs of progress will be evident in the months ahead.

In the fisheries and agriculture domains, the government is intensifying support for coastal communities by constructing facilities like cold storage and docks, with a goal to extend aid to 2,000 fishing villages and boost fishermen income between 60% – 100%. In Java’s northern coast, 20,000 hectares of ponds are to be developed, creating some 130,000 jobs. For agriculture, 480,000 hectares of new paddy fields are being created, while 100 modern warehouses will be built to support food storage and logistics. On education, the state is improving welfare for non-civil servant teachers and rolling out multiple “Unggul Garuda” schools, new polytechnics in underserved regions, and planning 500 public schools ultimately. These programmatic efforts signal the administration’s holistic approach to equitable development and human capital strengthening.
