Bali Expands Global Reach with New Direct Flights from China and South Korea

Indonesia, China, and South Korea have strengthened their travel and economic ties through the introduction of new direct flight routes connecting Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to Chengdu, China, and Cheongju, South Korea. Sichuan Airlines officially launched its daily service from Chengdu on September 26, 2025, while T’Way Air began its twice-weekly flights from Cheongju on September 25, 2025. These routes are expected to enhance connectivity, ease travel, and expand opportunities for tourism and economic exchange. The initiative underscores Bali’s position as a leading tourism hub in Southeast Asia, while also stimulating growth in local industries such as hospitality, retail, and services.

The launch of these routes is a milestone in Bali’s post-pandemic recovery, reflecting both the island’s enduring global appeal and the airport’s commitment to expanding its international network. With the addition of Sichuan Airlines and T’Way Air, Bali now serves 42 international routes operated by 47 airlines. The new connections highlight the strategic role of China and South Korea as key tourism markets, with both nations contributing significantly to visitor arrivals. Beyond tourism, the flights are projected to generate wider economic benefits, creating new business opportunities and reinforcing Indonesia’s broader agenda of strengthening international partnerships through enhanced connectivity.
