Local Organic Fertiliser Industry Increasingly in Demand

Indonesia’s organic fertiliser industry is gaining momentum, driven by growing global and domestic needs for sustainable agriculture. A key player in this shift is PT Turrima Agro Biotech, from Sragen, Central Java, which has developed a humic acid-based fertiliser. Their product not only supports better crop yields—such as raising rice production in Cameroon by up to 40%—but also helps restore soil health. Their fertiliser is already being used in markets like Africa, Kuwait, and Malaysia.

Despite the demand, organic fertilisers still account for only a small portion of Indonesia’s total fertiliser usage, which exceeds 13 million tons annually. This gap presents a big opportunity for local producers to grow, especially with government programs pushing for greener farming. While Turrima leverages international recognition and export markets, its primary goal remains boosting local food security and providing healthy, affordable food for Indonesians.
