In August 2025, Vietnam imported a total of 16,274 fully assembled, completely built-up (CBU) vehicles, with Indonesia leading as the top exporter. Out of the total imports, 6,673 units came from Indonesia, while Thailand supplied 5,346 units, and China supplied 3,206 units. This means that these three countries together accounted for roughly 90% of Vietnam’s imported vehicles that month.
Over the first eight months of 2025, Vietnam’s vehicle imports reached 137,821 units, marking an all-time high for that period. Fully assembled cars with fewer than nine seats made up the majority of this import volume, with about 104,000 units in that category imported between January and August. Additionally, there was a staggering 95% increase in imports of fully assembled vehicles over that same eight-month period compared to the same time last year, underscoring a strong upward trend in demand.
