5 Indonesian Agricultural Products that are Worldwide and Become Export Flagship

Indonesia continues to strengthen its position in the global agricultural market through five key export commodities: coffee, cloves, palm oil, cocoa, and rubber. These products not only support the domestic economy but also play a vital role in meeting international demand.
Coffee remains one of Indonesia’s most recognized commodities worldwide, with the country ranking as the fourth-largest coffee producer globally. Unique coffee varieties like Luwak, Java, and Toraja are highly sought after for their distinctive flavours. Cloves, native to Indonesia, have diverse uses ranging from food and beverages to cosmetics and traditional medicine. Major export destinations include India, the UAE, and Singapore. Palm oil stands out as a top contributor to Indonesia’s foreign exchange earnings, with the country accounting for 55% of the world’s total palm oil production, supplying markets such as India, China, and Pakistan. Cocoa is another strong export, with Indonesia being the third-largest cocoa producer in the world after the Ivory Coast and Ghana. In 2022, cocoa exports were valued at USD 1.9 billion, with high demand from India, the United States, and several European and Asian countries. Lastly, rubber plays a crucial role in industries like automotive, pharmaceuticals, and food processing, with the U.S., Japan, and China as primary buyers. Together, these five commodities highlight Indonesia’s strength as an agricultural powerhouse, showcasing its ability to meet global needs while boosting national economic growth.
