Indonesia’s furniture, handicraft, and interior design sectors are registering solid growth, making significant contributions to job creation and export earnings. In 2025, furniture exports made up about 12.2% of all handicraft exports, placing furniture second among handicraft sub-sectors—ahead of musical instruments, toys, and paper products. With abundant natural resources (wood, rattan, bamboo), a large domestic market (the biggest in Asia), and a steady upward export trend, the country is positioning itself to lead in creative industry innovation in Asia.
To build on this momentum, the Ministry of Creative Economy is pushing for “hexahelix” collaboration—bringing together government, business, academia, communities, media, and investors—to strengthen the furniture-value chain. International trade fairs such as IFMAC, WoodMac, interzum Jakarta, and IHFI 2025 are being leveraged not just as exhibition platforms but as stages for business matching, sharing innovations, showcasing designs, raising standards (through adoption of national quality standards), attracting foreign investment, and improving workforce skills.
