During his speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York on 23 September 2025, President Prabowo Subianto claimed that Indonesia has achieved food self-sufficiency, particularly in rice production. He proudly announced that this year, Indonesia reached its highest level of rice production and the largest stockpile of unhusked rice in the nation’s history. Consequently, Indonesia has the potential to supply rice to countries experiencing food security challenges, including Gaza.
Through climate-smart agricultural policies, Mr Prabowo conveyed that these policies are key to realising Indonesia's goal of becoming a centre of food and clean water production. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to climate action and sustainable development, as well as its willingness to take part in peacekeeping missions and other international initiatives aimed at fostering global stability. Through this message, President Prabowo positioned Indonesia as a nation ready to play a greater role on the world stage—both as a reliable food supplier and as an active contributor to addressing pressing global challenges.
