Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is strengthening the nation’s position in the global halal supply chain by taking a leading part in the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo (Halal Indo 2025), set for September 25–28, 2025, at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten. The initiative aims to tap into a global halal market valued at over USD 2 trillion. According to Eko Cahyanto, Secretary General at the Ministry of Industry, halal isn’t just about regulatory compliance anymore—it’s grown into a modern lifestyle choice that emphasises quality, safety, and sustainable products. As part of this commitment, Indonesia is encouraging the adoption of halal principles across various sectors, from product lines and services to supply chains and daily life, asserting its role as a key components that add value and enhance national competitiveness on the global stage.
Concerning the policy framework, Indonesia's strategic plan under Law No. 59 of 2024 — the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) sets an explicit goal of making the country a global halal industry hub. To execute this, the Ministry has outlined six core programs: creating technical policies; building and strengthening halal industry infrastructure; developing human resources; halal industry facilitation; enhancing promotion and cooperation; and increasing oversight and control. During Halal Indo 2025, the Ministry of Industry will showcase this strategy under the theme “Experience the Diversity of Indonesia’s Halal Industry: Shaping the Future of Global Halal Industry”. The expo will feature 128 industry players across sectors—food and beverages, cosmetics, textiles, traditional medicines, ceramics, and more—along with interactive workshops and the Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) to honour contributors to the halal ecosystem.
